Extra Curricular Activities
Advanced
|
Although Spanish is part of the regular curriculum at Montessori, this advanced-level Spanish class allows children to accelerate their comprehension and communication skills. Writing, reading, and public speaking exercises provide a solid knowledge of the language. |
Ballet |
Boys and girls at the school can join this rich and diverse classical ballet program. The class emphasizes creativity, develops and improves motor skills, and expands movement vocabulary in a structured environment. A recital is held at the end of the year. |
Fine Art |
The class builds on the existing art class in our curriculum and introduces children to various artists and the language of art. Art appreciation is acquired by discussing famous art pieces and letting children express themselves through different elements (oil pastels, charcoal, gauche, clay, etc.) |
French |
Our French instructors instill the desire to learn a new language in a fun and interactive way. The class concentrates on early development in linguistic skills and vocabulary building. |
Hindi |
Our native speaker makes learning Hindi a lot of fun! Children learn the language and the culture associated with it by using the appropriate greetings and learning songs, poems, and games. |
Karate |
Karate is a physical activity that contains philosophical elements characteristic of Asian cultures. The class teaches balance and coordination, deep concentration, confidence, how to increase attention span, and respect for elders. |
Music &
|
Because research has shown that there is a positive correlation between music and positive performance in verbal, numerical, perceptual and spatial skills, Montessori children are encouraged to listen to and create their own music in this class. |
Premier

The Montessori School of Herndon offers two premier learning centers:

Yoga |
The educational yoga curriculum supports and enhances learning, health, and personal responsibility. It has also been shown to improve focus, concentration, creativity and responsible behavior. |
